Magnetic stripe readers or magnetic card readers are devices used in interpreting data found on the magnet stripe of a debit, credit or any other payment card that you might be using. The reader works by using magnets to scan code from different cards. To use the card reader you have to slide it through the slot. You can also hold the card near the reader.
There are many benefits that come with having the readers in your business. One of the benefits is that they save you time and effort. In the absence of the devices, you would have to manually put data into your computer but with the readers, in place you have to only slide the card into the reader and you are good to go. The card reader also increases efficiency as you are able to finish recording the financial information fast and continue working.
Types of magnetic readers
There are many types of these card readers that are ideal for different uses. There are those that are ideal for use in retail stores, restaurants, and other vending areas. These aid in processing debit, credit, and gift card payments. There are others that are effective in reading smartcards. These read information in both the smart chip and magnetic stripe. Regardless of the reader that you buy you should ensure that it's of high quality.
Factors to consider when buying a magnetic reader
For you to buy the right unit you need to consider a number of factors that include:
Readability: The units are designed for high or standard volume use. The high volume readers come equipped with components that allow them to live for a long time. They are known for their longer reading channel which ensures that they are able to scan the details in a card on the first pass. In most cases, they are made from metal. Due to these features, they are usually expensive to purchase. The standard volume readers, on the other hand, are not of high quality like the high volume readers. Due to this, they often require an additional pass for them to read your card.
Interface: The readers have three main interface options: serial, USB, and PS/2 keyboard wedge. USB and PS/2 interfaces send information back to the computer as if it was typed on the keyboard. Card readers connected using serial interfaces often require special software in order to interpret data.

Developing an app is an accomplishment. With so much time and effort involved in the entire process of development, test and launch, devising an effective marketing strategy would be the last thing in the mind of a developer.
In the App market, there exists the 'problem of abundance'. With a surge of mobile apps in various app stores, success is not guaranteed even if your newly developed app has 'everything' in it. This is further aggravated with the high failure rate of various nicely developed apps at the app stores. The truth is, no matter how fantastic your app is, a solid marketing strategy is what ultimately sells it. The marketing of 'promised value' can act as a key differential.
It is essential to create a marketing plan before the launch for promotion and brand awareness. After all nobody is going to download an app that doesn't s have buzz around it.
What is the strategy to create the marketing buzz?
1. Promotion Before Launch: Even before the launch of the app, various promotional content should be finalized - content development, reviews by various influencers, opinion makers and bloggers and banner designing for advertising, news releases, etc. Correct medium (portals and publications) can guarantee that the promotion is targeted to the right audience. This is facilitated by making an online presence through social media networks. Demo testing with a target group spreads awareness amidst the right audience.
2. Optimizing the App: Optimizing the app to search engine by providing the correct keywords in its title and description is important so that users can locate it easily. App optimization during the development process should be an essential step for discoverability in search query at the app store. (1)
3. Releasing Unique Features Early: To grow a user base, it is essential to release early, which draws investor attention. Releasing the primary features would help early adoption - setting the stage for growing user base in the future. Enabling a social sharing facility can further lead to enhancing user base. Adoption is typically fast if a unique feature is introduced at an early stage. For example a messaging app that has the capacity to target 50 or more people at time would attract interest. (2)
4. Get Discovered: With a plethora of apps in the same market segment you are operating, at the highest frequency is essential to make your presence felt. The audience wants to know that how your app makes their task easier and that is ready to be downloaded. Create a landing page and an email subscription option for the app. Focus should be to create awareness to drive traffic to the page. A multi-channel marketing strategy such as email marketing, banner advertising, and viral marketing can help promote apps across various channels. To garner maximum visibility the marketing process should continuous.
5. Make Users Your Marketers: Attaining the top position in the chart is difficult but once achieved, users can act as the marketer for your 'great app'. Users can use the shareable features of the app to spread brand awareness among friends. They can use the app to share content, and social media to create the buzz around the app. Relationships can be forged through the shareable aspect of the app. Social media can be used to create profiles of the targeted users who can be engaged and re-engaged through content, value description, offers, and feature capabilities. Once convinced your true marketers do the viral marketing for the app. (4)
6. Revenue Model: It is essential to develop clarity over the revenue sourcing model. The most appropriate revenue model should be chosen. The app can be a paid app or an initially free and chargeable later on. The various monetizing sources of the app that can be explored include purchase options, advertisements, subscriptions, and product/service selling.
7. User Retention and Engagement: Retaining customers can be just as difficult as acquiring them. Push notifications serve as a source of user engagement. A solid user experience is essential to engage and retain customers. Feedback on user experience through ratings and reviews on the app page/app store are definite ways to boost credibility, retain existing customers, and acquire more. Allowing people to contact directly from the app through a mail or social media can help build engagement. Any negative review about a bug, problem, crash or additional feature requirement should be sorted immediately. Successful handling of user request leaves a happy customer and leads to positive reviews. (5)
Positive reviews increases app credibility as people download apps with higher positive recommendations.
Well planned pre-launch promotion, precise optimization, releasing unique feature early, enhanced discoverability, viral marketing, and positive review through high credibility are some of the killer strategies to fight competition and top the charts in the app market.

Designing any type of online website or blogging site can be a simple task if common mistakes are avoided. Without effective guidelines, it is easy to render a website that is both difficult to use, and extremely unattractive. With proper guidance, you can easily create a website design that is ideally suited to the purpose of your site while making it an experience that is both productive and pleasant.
Effective Content
Proper website design is not just creating something that is visually appealing, but also provides effective interaction as well. The purpose of quality and effective web design is to display the contents of the site to its best effect. To be effective at that, it must be designed in such a way that it retains the focus throughout the entire creative process.
Without it, the site can easily lose its aesthetic appeal or function because it is challenging to navigate. Web designs that are highly effective automatically enhance the site’s content along with the online user experience, instead of detracting from these basic needs.
The Layout
Layout of the website is crucial. In fact, layout is its central component. An effective web designer will use proper HTML structures and CSS (cascading style sheets) to create the site. Proper layout will have the necessary flexibility so that the design process remains consistent, no matter what the size or shape monitor or device is being used by the online visitor.
A part of the overall process of quality website design is selecting the best layout that strikes an effective balance between creating a site that is not dull or boring, while providing the ultimate user experience that is easy to interact with, and intuitive to understand.
The Navigation Process
Navigation is also another crucial component in the website design. It has intuitive links and menus, and is simple to understand and utilize. Quality navigation does not overload the online visitor with information, but simply assists the online visitor in helping them locate the information they need to solve their problem.
Effective Media
Webpages from 15 to 20 years ago were basic pages build with nothing more than text. However, today webpages are filled with all different types of media including text, video, imagery, audio, and a variety of multimedia components including animation. The designer that effectively incorporates each component into the website will have a major impact on the site usability. This includes choosing the right sizes and formats of each media used on the site.
As an example, online visitors tend to shy away from any page that utilizes huge amounts of text. If your site requires the display of a lot of text, it needs to be broken into smaller chunks to minimize the overwhelming effect. Other multimedia items that tend to be large in size also drive away online visitors, especially on small screens of mobile networks.
Coming up with creative website design does not need to be a challenging task. However, by avoiding the obvious, and incorporating the quality layout with good content and navigation, it is easy to keep create an effective website.

The key to search engine optimization these days is to not worry too much about it. As soon as you appear to be writing too much for search engines, and too little for real people, those search engines are going to lose interesting in your site.
There is a very fine line between optimizing a website and filling it with spam. Google isn't a fan of spam anymore.
In 2013, it wants to see users engaging with your site and returning if possible, it doesn't just care how many links there are pointing to your site. It wants quality.
You can still put keywords in your titles and opening paragraphs, and you can still use the odd keyword "alt tag" on your images, but the days of worrying about meta tags, keyword density, and back-links are done. I personally have dozens of page one rankings for my sites and have never filled in a meta box.
What You Can Do
Here's what I would do if writing a new post on my site:
- Choose a keyword as the title/topic of my post. It 100% has to make sense. "Best fishing spot beach miami" isn't going to cut it.
- Put that keyword naturally in the first paragraph of my post.
- After that, forget about the keyword and just write the article as well as possible.
- Share the post with my social networks, Google+, Twitter etc. Encourage interaction and shares.
- Move on to the next post and repeat the process.
Does that sound simple? It is! That is as "optimized" as your sites need to be these days.
You can still use SEO plugins but just fill in the titles only, don't worry about cramming keywords into them, in fact, this can actually hurt your site's rankings.
If you aren't comfortable writing articles, you can always outsource them to others. Give them instructions about keywords and let them go ahead and write it. Don't bother using article "spinning" techniques or other lazy techniques, Google is most likely smarter than you and knows every trick in the book.
Don't bother trying to trick it, embrace it and write good quality content.
Be Patient
Sometimes, when rankings don't appear over night, you might find yourself wondering if you have done something wrong, or what you could do to make an improvement. In all honesty, all you could do to improve is just to ignore your rankings.
If you are doing a good job writing, they will come sooner or later, there is no doubt about that. You have to earn them in 2013, but the good news is, you are no longer competing with millions of "cheaters", Google has taken them out of the game already.
Search Engine Optimization could not be simpler these days. There are those who will point out that you need a sound strategy and a solid campaign, but they are most likely trying to sell you their services. You don't need to listen to them anymore, just concentrate on your content.

One of the biggest challenges that face web site owners is trying to traffic to their websites. This is usually achieved by getting the best possible ranking with the search engines, which comes down to trying to get onto the first page of Google or the other engines such as Yahoo and Bing.
It’s important to understand if you are promoting a popular product or services you may have hundreds if not thousands all competing for that same spot. For you to get the edge over the competition you need to do some fine-tuning of your site with search engine optimization. This is not as complex as it sounds and the steps below can give you some guidelines to improving your site to get some search engine attention.
Step 1: Check the layout and design of your website
Whilst you may think you have an impressive looking website, it could also be at the root of your problems. Does your copy start half way down the page, making it more difficult for the search engines to grasp what your site is about? Have you got bloated over sized graphics that make your page slow to load or too much white space between the lines? It’s not difficult to tweak your pages to get them right.
Step 2: Have you placed your keywords strategically through your website?
Keyword stuffing can be detrimental to your site but so can lack of keywords. It’s no longer good enough just to put your keywords in the title and meta tags, you need to have a certain percentage placed appropriately within your copy and articles. Your critical keyword is ideally to be found in your first paragraph of text, and should also be used in headlines and in your hyperlinks.
Step 3: Text links and site maps
To get your site recognized and positioned you need to make sure that all of your pages are being found by the web spider when it crawls your site; which means you need to get your site indexed correctly. It’s important to include a site map in your website that shows all the links to your inner pages. Another good habit to get into is creating a navigation menu with text links, these are a lot easier for the search engine robot to follow and identify all your pages. On page search engine optimization is just as important as off page.
Step 4: Backlinks – Quality vs. Quantity
When you are trying to position yourself a highly competitive category you will need quality backlinks to your site, preferably PR 6 & 7 when you can get them. You will find that when you have good content in your site others are willing to link to you as it provides credibility for their own sites.
But this can take time to build up, in the meantime you can actively search yourself and start requesting links, the more the better. Don’t overlook that quality will outdo quantity any day in terms of getting your site a better ranking.
Step 5: Keep up to date with search engine rulings
Search engines change their rules quite frequently and it is important to keep yourself up to date. This isn’t as hard as it may sound, there are numerous forums and blogs on the net that regularly post information on the latest changes.
Subscribe to informative newsletters or join relevant forums so you always know what changes are in the wind.
Search engine optimization (SEO) can be complex, but following these few simple steps provides the basics for getting started.

Mobile marketing is loosely defined as "the use of the mobile medium as a means of marketing communication" or "distribution of any kind of promotional or advertising messages to customer through wireless networks".
Since the rise of SMS (Short Message Service) in the 21st century, marketing on a mobile phone has become more and more popular and doesn't seem to be falling by the wayside anytime soon.
With 3.5 billion text messages transmitted or received daily, cell phone users have grown accustom to opening text messages on their personal cellphones, which is usually within just a few feet of them more than 15 hours a day. Your customers can literally be reached through your mobile phone advertisement almost anywhere they go; at the grocery store, at the ball game, at the pool... The possibilities of mobile marketing are endless and breaking new ground in the cyber advertising industry.
In other words, mobile phone does not equal "fad". And mobile marketing does equal sales. Combine the two and you've got a very strong completely wireless marketing system that puts your information literally at your customers fingertips within seconds.
Just imagine that you have an impromptu weekend sale going on in your store and you don't have time to put the word out soon enough to reach the number of customers that you want. You also don't have time to make up a special promotions sign to place on your shop window to increase customer awareness, because it's already late Friday afternoon. With mobile phone technology this is never a problem. Blast your sales message out to your mobile phone opt in list, and you can be certain that your word is getting out almost the instant you send it. No more waiting for a customer to sign into an email account 2 days later only to find out they missed your important event.
In fact, according to the latest cell industry research, 97 percent of all SMS (text) marketing messages are opened and read within 14 minutes, with 83 percent of the 97 opened within the first 3 minutes. There is also a higher probability of your mobile message being read than with standard email, Facebook messages or even Tweets.
Mobile marketing was created for small businesses, home based businesses, churches, fundraising groups, and others with this in mind. It's now easier than ever to start using the power of mobile marketing through various online applications.
Depending on the package, some of the features may include but may not be limited to:
- 24/7 online access to the Mobile Marketing Application
- Text Messages each month
- Dedicated Keywords
- Free contact list import tool
- Sub-keyword
- Mobile Webpage creation
- Geo-Targeting
- Real-time reports
- Secure servers
98% of ALL internet marketers fail because they are given the wrong recipe for success. Save yourself the hassle by learning what the top internet marketers are doing but fail to tell you.

Telecommute is fast becoming a buzzword nowadays. The routine 8-5 office jobs are fast becoming a thing of the past as the work environment, job descriptions, and methods of doing work are evolving. People who work these days are no longer confined to physical offices because technological innovations have enabled the phenomenon that we now call telecommuting -- which means, in the simplest terms, working remotely.
Of course, there are certain things we have now that make telecommuting possible, and if it weren't for these innovations, we would all still be stuck in the caveman days of work. Here are some of the technological innovations of recent history that makes collaboration possible.
- The Internet: Of course the Internet. This particular invention was recently named the top innovation in the last 30 years, and for good reason. The Internet has made possible so many things that we now find ourselves in a position of being almost debilitated when we find ourselves disconnected. Being connected via the Internet has given us access to a vast storehouse of knowledge, and it has enabled us to share our own knowledge, too. It has certainly made a giant leap forward for the proponents of globalization, because through it, the world certainly became a much smaller place now that everyone, everywhere is connected.
- Laptops, tablets, and mobile devices: More and more people are choosing to take their work with them, and not just be stuck with a heavy desktop computer. While there are those who still prefer working on a good old trusty desktop, mobility is now becoming an important issue for many as they want to be free to pursue their own activities in their own time without having to compromise their work in the process. And because laptops are now getting lighter, carrying your work with you wherever you go is not as hard as it used to be. Along with the release of the tablet and other similar mobile devices, more and more working people are choosing to go mobile as it gives them more flexibility.
- Email: Where would we all be without email? Just by clicking the Send button, you get your message delivered right away to anyone anywhere (well, as long as they have Internet access, that is). Before email came into the picture, we had to rely on snail mail (those born and raised in the digital age are probably scratching their heads now and asking, "What?"), express mail, LBC/ FedEx/ and other similar courier services to have our messages delivered. Then we had to wait for days (sometimes weeks) for the much-awaited response. Can you really imagine doing business like that now?
- Webinars/ Video Conferencing: Attending seminars, workshops, and other similar activities in the past used to cost a fortune, so companies would most likely select a few delegates only and then spend for transportation, seminar fees, etc. Now, however, thanks to webinars, anyone interested can join, at much less cost. Employers no longer have to send their workers out because they can attend webinars right at work, or even in their own homes, and the cost is much less than going to actual location seminars. The learning and take-home experience is still pretty much the same, but it is not as much of hassle as it used to be.
The same concept applies with video conferencing. It used to be difficult to gather team members or stakeholders (especially in multi-nationals where some members are in other countries) located in various provinces/countries, and it was even harder to coordinate communication. But now, thanks to video conferencing, virtual meetings can be set up without having to worry about the logistics of having to get everyone to the office.
- Cloud Computing Technology: File cabinets? Boxes and boxes of documents? Directories full of business contacts? Sounds like any other typical office. The trouble with files like this, however, is that they run the risk of getting ruined -- whether by natural disasters, accidents, or some other mishap, physical documents are at risk of getting lost, stolen, or destroyed. Now imagine if you can put all that pertinent data in one place where you know it can't be harmed in any way. That is what cloud computing does for you -- it allows you to store everything you need all up there in the cloud, and as long as you have access to the Internet, then you can access your files, too. Any changes made to files found in the cloud will be automatically synced, saving you the trouble of having to go through so many files and doing a manual update. So if anyone from the team makes some edits on that presentation, you don't have to worry anymore about updating your copy, because it's already there.
These are just some of the innovations that have revolutionized the way we view work. These technologies have certainly brought people together and made collaboration not just possible, but now a normal way of life. Because of these technological innovations, working together has become so much easier, and work has certainly taken on a brand new perspective.

Satellite TV is a very complicated system, and it is fairly obvious because the state of art technology is built in a digital age. However you may always rely on information that can make your satellite viewing experience slightly easier to grasp particularly when you are attempting to have your own customized set-up. Let us dig into some of the fundamentals as you pull into the store en route to having your own satellite TV system.
When heading off to your local store, keep in mind that you are going to go along with an entire system. So with that in mind, listed below are the three key units for your very own satellite system. You have to get a satellite receiver which connects to your TV set, your very own handy remote control, and last but not the least a satellite dish that can boost your reception. And one thing more, yea you need to get a subscription from your local provider who can provide you access to the needed signal for your own viewing experience.
You can have a go at either a standard set-up or a cranked up high definition system. In programming your standard satellite usually requires a spherical satellite dish measuring about 18 inches. On the other hand you can go high definition by procuring an oval-shaped dish having a dimension of 18×20 inches. Nonetheless if you don't want to have a fuss with your system, the dish comes as part of your subscription package. A must in order to receive good signal is that the dish should be to be oriented in a clear exposure by the southern direction and ensure there are no man-made structures hindering its reception. Trees are also a no-no.
Since the digital age is upon your time of wanting to have your very personal satellite system, assure that the broadcasting experience you are going to have is something to look forward to. Gone are the days of the blurring and fuzzy output on your TV screen. The present domain for a satellite system is in MPEG2. so either you have crystal clear signal or nothing at all. Nature can play with your signal in some cases such as strong winds and rain and when lightning comes bragging around. Nonetheless these problems occur less often.
Well that's it; you can now head on to the store feeling assured and use your satellite TV basics.
